Vivir en la frontera. Tres ejemplos de análisis históricos en regiones de fronteras étnicas en Oaxaca y Puebla, México
Abstract
The concept frontier, as a unit of analysis in regions where different human groups cohabit, has been applied to define places of coexistence. In the cases of Oaxaca and Puebla, it has not been used frequently to explore spaces where several ethnic groups converge and exist in geographic and politic limits that do not represent barriers for coexistence, despite the conflicts. In this contribution we present three examples from Oaxaca and Puebla that show how different groups have lived together in frontier spaces, and expose the validity and limitations of the use of the term in contexts of ethnic complexity.
