Abstract
The objective of the research was to know the structure, the operation and the scopes of sistema de cargos in San Bernardino Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla, chosen for being an indigenous town that has preserved his customs and traditions in the middle of an urban spot and frequent migratory movements of its
inhabitants. We analyzed architectural, anthropological and historical studies, municipal and parochial files and made interviews and field observation. The result points to the sistema de cargos, raised on a religious substratum, as a structure which keeps alive the feeling of belonging that includes all the areas
of social life of the community.
