Abstract

This paper deals with social identities or, in other words, the process by which subjects enroll in historically constructed generalities and define themselves accordingly. With these interests in mind, the author approached a gay bar. The identification process that takes place inside this establishment is analyzed as a communication henomenon, taking into account the use of time and space, as well as verbal and non verbal language. The goal of this paper is to explain the way in which specific spaces, in this case a gay bar, influence the formation process of certain kinds of subjects.
