Abstract
This article is the result of a larger study conducted from 1996-2000 with sex workers in the city of Oaxaca de Juarez, capital of one of the poorest states in Mexico. The author examines the women’s experiences and the reasons they are involved in this type of work. Specific questions asked include, What do these sex workers say about their economic obligations and social relationships? What are their living and work conditions like? What plans do they have for their own futures and those of their dependents?Downloads
