Abstract

This essay reflects on the need to develop global and relational optics on the phenomenon of modernity. Their starting point is the categories of otherness by which modernity is often defined. Argues that these categories work to rule or partly invisible relations inequality holding project of modernity in the center, and the operation of the modern project contradictora off center. essay focuses first principal another inmate of modernity, women. then goes on to consider the modernity constructed as. their other external ends with some reflections on modern creativity in Latin America The essay is historical perspective, but from two premises that touch this. first, that globalization is not something that follows modernity, but has been a basic and structural feature of it, and second, that the ways that currently facing the problems of identity and citizenship in the Americas are given by the dynamics and contradictions of our currencies.
