Abstract

In this article, we propose to problematize the sexual division of labor from an angle that has not been studied much. The central approach is that the processes of feminization and masculinization of work, far from being disconnected, are constituted, and entwined as practices and social representations that, in their heterogeneity, contribute to the consolidation of labor precariousness. Through an ethnographic approach from the anthropology of work, we compare two case studies: paid domestic workers from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and oil workers from Argentine Patagonia. This allowed us to outline how the processes of labor precariousness are configured from the sexual division of labor in capitalism.
