The aim of this article is to offer an overview of the current situation of indigenous higher education in Brazil, focusing on recent governmental policies regarding the promotion or support to the access and permanence of indigenous people in this educational level, and on initiatives of some public universities. It also puts forward a concise characterization of indigenous students’ demands, and the sense that higher education has for them.Abstract
