Abstract

This essay analyzes the role played by civil society and feminist NGO ’s throughout the world and how the United Nations Organization uses them in its global administration projects. What are the new paradigms confronting the development processes that affect the combativeness of feminists’ and women’s movements in Latin America? The author analyzes the strategic planning relationship set by the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetar y Fund and the United States. He relates all the above to what the UN has called Sustainable Development. The contradictions and per versities which appear and how this is all dominated by the new world trend called neoliberalism. From an ecological standpoint, a very accurate analysis is made of the capitalist economy and how it affects women. The final concern of the ar ticle is not only to question the United Nations and the role it plays in the world as an instrument of neoliberal policies, but also to point it out as an organization which is becoming women’s main enemy. A ver y radical position on the role played by the United Nations.
