Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the process of construction of a new identity among the Kiliwa indians from Baja California, Mexico. In order to do this, we make a literary review of previous studies and an original ethnographic research that includes first hand testimonies of members of this ethnic group. To determine what defines Kiliwa today, we describe their ritual objects, kinship and the ways in which the landscape was territorialized.
